Chilton County saw its season ended on Friday with two losses at No. 6 Tallassee in the first round of the state Class 5A baseball playoffs.

The Tigers lost the first game, 13-3, in seven innings and fell, 9-3, in Game 2.

“They’re a good hitting team,” CCHS coach Josey Shannon said. “We just made some mistakes that cost us.”

The highlight for the visitors was Adam Minor’s 4-for-5 day that included two home runs and a double.

Tanner Powell had two doubles in five at-bats.

Ben Handley pitched four innings and suffered the loss in Game 1, as he matched up with Tallassee ace Trey Cochran-Gill.

Still, CCHS managed eight hits, and Tallassee recorded 10.

Chance Calloway was the losing pitcher in Game 2, though he kept his team within striking distance, with the score at 6-3 Tallassee, until the fifth inning, when the hosts put the series away with three runs.

Chilton County finishes the season with a 15-19 record in Shannon’s second season.

Tallassee is now 27-8.
