“I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I Will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. I will speak of thy glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee. They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; to make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works” (Psalm 145:1-17).

Thought for the week: “God Provides”

“I choose not to share my troubles, nor the scars down deep inside; but I’ve found through all adversity God always does provide. When our pathway seems the darkest and life’s storms are all about, we’ve used all our resources and it seems there’s no way out; that’s when He sends a miracle — moves mountains — calms the sea, but oftentimes the miracle is worked inside of me. He gives us strength for every need, gives joy in time of sorrow and I know with deep assurance He’ll be there for me tomorrow.”

Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with praise singing by the male chorus. Songs sung: “He Is Sweet I Know,” “When The Morning Come” and “Stand By Me Lord.” The scripture was read by Charles Arrington with prayer by Pastor Dukes, Carl Singleterry and Kevin Nunn.

The morning message was given by Youth Pastor Kevin Nunn. His theme was “The Danger of Looking Back.” Keep your eyes on Jesus; your focus should continually be on Jesus. Learn how to lean on Jesus during hardship because he is there. He is there during heartache. Learn how to call him, don’t get stuck in the past, look forward. Looking back hinders your progress. The children of Israel looked back after God delivered them. Press toward the mark. Looking back hinders personal growth. Are you still on milk or meat? Don’t try to witness without power, wait fro the Holy Ghost to come upon you. Turn on the light in your life and receive spiritual growth. When God says “Go,” you go. The service concluded with fellowship by Pastor Dukes, deacons and the congregation.

May God heal, strengthen and keep them in His care is our prayer.
