Maplesville’s Small Town Alabama celebration went off without a hitch this past Saturday, according to Mayor Kurt Wallace.

“We had a very successful day,” he said. “Every vendor we spoke with said they had a great day financially.”

Wallace said the Maplesville Historical Society was overwhelmed with all the interest the museum generated.

“Many people came up to me and suggested we do this every year and maybe even consider doing it a couple of times a year,” he said.

The mayor said the homecoming theme in the event’s advertising brought a slew of old faces the town hadn’t seen in years, which was a welcome sight.

“I spoke with groups of people meeting in the Methodist church and in the food court, reminiscing about the ‘good ole days’ growing up in Maplesville,” Wallace said. “Many of them had not seen each other for 30 to 40 years. It was a great day for the town of Maplesville.”
