Verbena scored five runs in the fifth inning of a baseball game on Tuesday to erase a 5-3 deficit and defeat Reeltown, 9-5.

Christian Coston earned the win after relieving starting pitcher Kelly Lucas and holding Reeltown scoreless over the last three innings.

Coston also went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored.

Kelly Dorsett went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, Lucas went 3-for-3 with a double and one run scored, and Jacob Montgomery had two hits and scored a run.

“We played a lot better defensively,” Verbena coach Tommy Headley said. “I was proud of the way we didn’t beat ourselves and made the plays when we needed to.”
