Jemison on Monday appeared well on its way to its 10th consecutive softball win, but then the Chilton County bats got going.

Down 4-0 in the fourth inning, CCHS scored 14 unanswered runs to win 14-4 and snap their rivals’ long winning streak.

The Tigers (11-10) scored five runs in the fourth inning, four in the fifth and five in the sixth against a Jemison team (9-13) that has missed its coach, Leighsa Robinson, for the past several games for personal and health reasons.

Robinson should be able to coach the rest of the season, though.

Still, the Panthers built an early lead.

Amber Simmons doubled in the bottom of the first and scored on a wild pitch. Then, the hosts scored three runs in the second inning on hits by Codi Mims, Brandi Baker and Dallis Vanderslice, and a sacrifice fly by Shelby Lopez.

Jemison loaded the bases with one out in the third, but Brianna Cleckler, who started the inning in relief of Lindsey Parrish, didn’t allow a run to cross the plate in the inning—or the rest of the game.

Lauren Stewart led off the fourth and was hit by a pitch. Tiffany Crowson singled, and, one out later, Macee Thomas, Amanda Whorf and Mary Katherine Graham all reached base with consecutive hits.

Graham’s was a double that, combined with a Jemison fielding error, allowed CCHS to tie the game. Graham scored on a Cleckler single, and the Tigers wouldn’t trail again.

Tiffany Crowson led off the next inning with a deep home run just to make sure.
