Thought for the week: “The Greatest Treasure”

“God has given me great treasure — no part of it is gold, but it will afford me pleasure through life and when I’m old. The many beauties of our earth — tall mountains, lakes and trees — none can assess their untold worth nor gold buy one of these. The skies of blue and flowers, too — God’s awesome gifts to man; the gentle breeze, the morning dew — all works of this great plan. The air I breathe, the food I eat, water, my stream of life. Friends I cherish, who can’t be beat. Beside me in good times and strife. Sunshine’s bright rays and moonlight’s glow — such wondrous things to see. But the greatest wealth I’ll ever know is God’s undying love for me.”

Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with early morning praise service with music by the male chorus.

Pastor Dukes gave the morning message, “Living in a World Filled With Trouble.” Every man born of a woman is but a few days and full of trouble. It won’t pass you if you are a preacher or trying to be good. Troubles are always present; they are everywhere.

Trouble can’t touch Jesus. Stay with him have a relationship with him. Trouble comes without a cause. Jesus knows about our troubles; will you recognize him when he gets there? Don’t be afraid. Peter stepped out on his trouble. Walk in victory on your troubles and keep your eyes on Jesus. By doing so you can do the impossible. Jesus reached and lifted Peter and got on board.

On our sick list this week we ask you to remember in your prayers: Linda Clay, Lee Anna Worthey, Jo Ann Gill, Nathan Short ridge, Leonard King, Joseph McCall, Stanley Frazier, Queen Worthey, Annaretta Fells, Earl Davis, Bertha Gates and Mary Ann Garrison. May God heal, strengthen and keep them in His care is our prayer.
