Chilton County’s baseball team pounded out 21 hits and allowed only two on Wednesday in a 13-4 win over Etowah in the Lake Martin Classic at Benjamin Russell High School.

“Our bats came alive,” CCHS coach Josey Shannon said. “It just proves that hard work and staying the course of what we wanted to do this year, it proves that it will pay off.”

The Tigers play Coosa-Central at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, and a win in that game would give Chilton a 3-1 record in pool play and could earn the team a berth in a semifinal game later on Thursday.

In the win over Etowah, Chance Calloway allowed only two hits while tossing an efficient complete game, needing less than 90 pitches to close it out.

T.J. Henley went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles.

Trevor Thomas and Tanner Powell each went 2-for-3 with a double, and Tyler Crowson was 2-for-4.
