Jemison mistakes on Thursday allowed Chilton County to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and steal a 5-4 win.

Jemison led most of the game, but two walks, an error that instead could have been a game-ending double play, and a wild pitch that resulted in the game-winning run doomed the Panthers at Jack Hayes Field in the final inning.

With one out in the home half of the seventh, Adam Minor scored from third on a pitch that got away from the Jemison catcher, and a nervous CCHS crowd and dugout could finally celebrate.

The visitors struck first, in the third inning, when Zak Kaylor, Jacob Chapman and Scott Clements all scored—the last two on a CCHS error.

The Tigers then began chipping away at the lead.

Craig Headley’s sacrifice fly scored Derek Coker in the bottom of the third. Then, the next inning, a groundout by Kipp Moore allowed Jacob McKinney to score. Cameron Cummings tied the game with a sac fly that plated Headley.

But Jemison loaded the bases in the sixth and took the lead when Nathan Hudson, who came on in the inning to relieve starter Ben Handley, walked Clements.

Hudson got the next two outs without allowing another run, worked a perfect seventh, and earned the win.

Cruz Martinez suffered the loss after relieving Chase McCary with no outs in the seventh.

Tanner Powell scored the game-tying run on an error after walking to lead off the seventh.
