The Clanton City Council voted Monday to repair the city swimming pool. The lowest bid of $22,500 was awarded to Mancha Hardscapes.

In other business, the council took the following actions:

Approved the only bid submitted for road striping. The bid went to Highway Management, which bid $975 a mile for solid white shoulder stripes and solid yellow center stripes and $475 a mile for broken yellow center stripes.

The council accepted the bid, discussed just painting the center stripe, but didn’t decide which roads would be painted.

Voted to send two police department members to Traffic Homicide Investigation School in Selma. The two-week class will certify officers to investigate accidents that result in serious injury or death and prepare them for court testimony. The class costs $595 per officer.

Approved a contract for the YMCA’s management of the city pool this summer. While the city owns the pool and pays for its upkeep, the YMCA provides lifeguards during its hours of operation.

Hired a new employee for the beautification department, and promoted a police officer from part-time to full-time.
