What do green shamrocks, coupons, community involvement and Jack’s hamburgers have in common? Jack’s Family Restaurants’ Shamrocks Against Dystrophy program to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The Shamrocks Against Dystrophy program has been one of Jack’s philanthropy projects for 13 years. Through this program, Jack’s store locations, including those in Clanton and Jemison, incorporate a coupon promotion that enables customers who purchase a shamrock to benefit MDA for $1 to purchase meals at a reduced price.
This year’s program began Sunday, Feb. 22 and will conclude on Monday, March 21.
This year’s fundraising goal is $100,000. Funds will enable MDA to pay for muscle biopsies and flu shots, organize support group sessions, provide follow-up clinic visits, and help with the maintenance of wheelchairs and communication devices. Also, the funds raised will provide a weeklong summer camp for MDA patients.
