Rena Jean Thacker Erwin, 41, of Jemison died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
She was born Tuesday, July 2, 1968, in Florida, daughter of Johnny E. Thacker and Ellie Newberry Thacker.
Rena graduated with honors from Jemison High School, where she was a member of the marching band, drama club and several honor societies, including the Beta Club.
Surviving are her husband, Mr. Steven Ray Erwin Sr. of Vandiver; son, Mr. Steven Ray (Julie) Erwin Jr. of Vandiver; three daughters, Ms. Jessica Nicole Erwin of Jemison, Ms. Kellie Diann Erwin of Vandiver and Miss Samantha Louise Erwin of Vandiver; granddaughter, Miss Candice Michelle Erwin of Vandiver; parents, Johnnie E. and Ellie Thacker Sr. of Jemison; sister, Mrs. Sherri (Clay) Lackey of Jemison; two brothers, Mr. Johnny E. (Stephanie) Thacker Jr. of Jemison and Mr. Kenneth (Stephanie) Thacker Wallace of Pelham; grandmother, Mrs. Louise Thacker of Jemison; and grandfather, Mr. Jessie L. Newberry of Molino, Fla.
Friends were received from 5-8 p.m., Monday, March 1 at Martin Funeral Home.
Services were held Tuesday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. David Bishop, the Rev. Willard Scott and the Rev. Gene Hitchcock officiating.
Interment followed in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery, Jemison.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the funeral fund at Martin Funeral Home.
