Reflective 911 signs available

The Maplesville Fire Department is now selling reflective 911 signs to place in front of homes.

Fire chief Michael Abbott said the idea is to help firefighters locate homes more quickly in the case of emergencies. The signs would be placed at the front of a home’s yard as close to the road as possible, perhaps on visible mailboxes. Abbott said the signs help firefighters identify addresses.

The signs cost $20 each.

Abbott said the initiative will help protect Maplesville residents but will also help raise the necessary funds for the fire department to purchase needed equipment throughout the year. He said the department is currently trying to purchase a new rescue truck.

To purchase a 911 sign, call the Maplesville Fire Department at 334-366-0010 or Maplesville Town Hall at 334-366-4211. The signs are available at the fire department.
