Ret. CMSgt. Ralph Allen Varden, 69, of Thorsby died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
He was born Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1940, in Chilton County, son of the late Robert Bernie Varden and the late Louise Ellison Varden.
He was a Chief Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Varden of Thorsby; son, Bryan K. Varden of Cumming, Ga.; Daughter, Theresa A. Curtis of Thorsby; two grandchildren, Aaron M. Varden of Thorsby and Brandon S. Varden of Thorsby; brother, Robert O. “Pete” (Myra) Varden of Jemison; sister, Brenda G. (Gary) Miller of Jemison; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bernie Varden; and mother, Louise Ellison Varden.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at  10:15 a.m. at graveside with the Rev. Don Roebuck and the Rev. Pate Huggins officiating.
Interment will follow in Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
