Clanton Elementary preschoolers celebrated the 100th day of school this year by turning their classroom into a circus.

The class plans to visit Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus Friday at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Complex.

Preschool teacher Maria Porter said the day helped drum up excitement for Friday’s field trip to Birmingham.

Students dressed as clowns, complete with hats, face paint and red foam noses.

They also snacked on circus-themed treats, including animal crackers, cotton candy and circus peanuts, as they worked out their counting and other skills.

Students in the class are Ke’Yontis Dennis, Eric Johnson, Tricia Benton, Tristin Yarenko, Paul Romero, Breanna Smith, Logan Bice, Savanna Smith, Nicholas Townsell, Kalyn Smith, Natalie Merchant, Isaiah Davidson, Sophie Porter, Haven Davenport, Guineth Fierro and Alejandra Alcala.

Pam Teel is the teacher assistant.
