Chilton County High School will present “Blast from the Past” in four public performances Feb. 19-20 and Feb. 26-27 at 7 p.m. each evening in the school’s auditorium.

Tickets are $7 apiece and may be pre-ordered from cast members. Tickets will go on sale in the school office Jan. 30.

Nearly 140 students will perform a variety of numbers ranging from Patsy Cline’s “Always” to Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” to more modern hits like Sheryl Crowe’s “The First Cut is the Deepest.” In all, there are 26 numbers overlapping several genres.

The school concert fundraiser enters its 18th year this year under coordinators Ricki and Sheri McKee.

“I think it’s going to be good. We have a lot of young voices,” Ricki McKee said during practice Wednesday afternoon.

Six former students have returned to help choreograph dance moves for the show’s numbers. Karen Mitchell is in charge of choreography each year and is one of many who work behind the scenes to make “Blast” a success.

Sheri McKee said she is especially looking forward to the performance of “Always,” which was handpicked by her for the show because it is a personal favorite.

“The young kids have stepped up just like they always do,” she said. “We’re always amazed.”
