Red Cross needs O, B negative blood

The American Red Cross desperately needs blood donations, particularly types O and B negative. The blood supply has decreased in Alabama and across the Southeast, due in part to recent bad weather and the holiday season.

The Red Cross is sponsoring a blood drive Friday, Jan. 22 from 1:30-5:30 p.m. at the Clanton Walmart.

To give blood, donors must weight at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent). Blood can be given every 56 days. Donors must bring a photo ID or American Red Cross donor card.
