Expect some surprises at this year’s Chilton County Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet.

The banquet, set for Tuesday, Jan. 12 at the Alabama Power Conference Center, will follow a theme based on the TV series “The Beverly Hillbillies.” The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Also, Chamber Executive Director Pennie Broussard will make a special announcement about this year’s upcoming Peach Jam Jubilee.

Those who plan to attend should get their tickets early, Broussard said. Attendees are also encouraged to dress as their favorite “Beverly Hillbillies” character or dress casually.

“We just try to keep it light and fun,” Broussard said. “In January, you never know how the weather is going to be.”

As always, the chamber will present its Youth Citizen of the Year Award, along with a $1,000 scholarship, to a local high school senior. Also presented will be the 2010 Business of the Year Award.

New chamber board members and a new president will be recognized. This year’s new board members are Russ Hamlin, Peggy Hall and Willie Mae White.

Tickets include a steak dinner and entertainment by “Blast from the Past.” Tickets are $25 each and are available at the chamber office or from any board member.
