From staff reports

Wendy Bryan’s third grade class at Thorsby School has kept with tradition for Christmas in her classroom. The children enjoy giving to the Chilton County Humane Society instead of exchanging gifts. This is a cause close to their hearts in which they can help. They combined their food brought in with the junior high and high school Beta Clubs.
Since Celeste Wolfe became Jr. and Sr. Beta Club Sponsor at Thorsby three years ago, the club has annually participated in collecting pet food to donate to the Chilton County Humane Society. Along with Bryan’s class, they have collected more than 1,700 pounds and 73 cans of pet food. In addition to this, monetary donations have been made. On Friday, Dec. 11, this was delivered to the humane society, but students are still bringing in more food.
