In the girls game, Chilton County racing out to a 5-1 lead only seemed to motivate the visitors, who came back easily and won, 55-31.

The Red Devils (4-2) had taken the lead, at 10-9, by the end of the first period.

The visitors led 22-16 at halftime and 39-27 after three periods.

With 2:56 remaining in the first half, Maplesville’s Zuri Nix caught the basketball on a well designed inbounds play underneath the basket.

Nix scored despite being fouled and made the free throw for a 3-point play that ended CCHS’s hopes.

Nix scored a season-high 39 points in the game.

Kortisha Morrow was Maplesville’s next leading scorer with six points.

Ebony Childers had 11 rebounds.

Both Renee Lewis and Keondra Looney had eight points for the Tigers (1-5).
