C.I. Porter

C.I. Porter, 83, of Jemison passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at his residence in the Union Grove community.
He was born Friday, April 9, 1926, in Chilton County, son of the late Scott E. Porter and the late Gracie Burnett Porter.
C.I. was the owner and operator of Porter’s Truck Stop at I-65 Exit 219 in Jemison for 25 years.
C.I. was also a longtime member of the Union Grove Fire and Rescue Department where his call number was 748. He was also a member of Burning Bush Church in Jemison.
Surviving are wife, Louise Porter of Jemison; two daughters, Donna (Earl) Manasco of Jemison and Sheree (Ronnie) Tate of Thorsby; grandson, Jeffery (Mirna) Manasco of Jemison; great-granddaughter, Shanda Manasco of Thorsby; brother, James O. (Ann) Porter of Jemison; two sisters, Delene Littleton of Jemison and Doris (George) Brasher of Jemison; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Scott Porter; mother, Gracie Burnett Porter; and brothers, J.P. Porter, Arnold Porter and Jerry Porter.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at Burning Bush Church with the Rev. Wade Atkins and the Rev. Willard Fredrick officiating.
A procession departed from Martin Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. Monday en route to Burning Bush Church. Mr. Porter was in state one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
Interment followed in Rocky Mount Methodist Cemetery.
