Maplesville girls suffer first loss

Maplesville’s girls basketball team on Thursday lost for the first time this season, 53-43 at Holy Spirit.

Zuri Nix was the leading scorer for the Red Devils (2-1), pouring in 14 points to go along with six rebounds.

Kortisha Morrow recorded 12 points and three steals, and Keshia Bailey contributed eight points and seven rebounds.

Maplesville’s boys also lost, 75-43.

Brian Bailey led all scorers with 27 points. Bailey also had seven rebounds.

Matt Hamner had seven points for the Devils (1-2).

On Friday, Maplesville’s girls lost at Dallas County 47-14, and the boys lost 94-57.

Brian Bailey led the boys with 21 points and five assists.

Anthony Johnson scored 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

For the girls, Ebony Childress had four points and five rebounds.
