John William Heptinstall
Heptinstall, John William “Bill,” age 73, of Jemison passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Heptinstall; sisters, Velma Richardson and Bertha Moore; and parents, Monroe and Mabel Heptinstall.
He was a 32 degree Scottish Rite member of the Masonic Lodge No. 423 and a special deputy of Chilton County and a constable.
He married Ellen Buford on June 26, 1954, and they remained sweethearts for 55 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen B. Heptinstall of Jemison; sons, Rocky W. (Yvonne) Heptinstall of Thorsby, John A. (Brenda) Heptinstall of Port Charlotte, Fla., Clifton M. “Tony” (Mary) Heptinstall of Opelika, John W. “Bill Jr.” (Fran) Heptinstall of Opelika and Stephan A. (Tina) Heptinstall of Robertsdale; brothers, Mack (Clara) Heptinstall of Cary, Miss., Jack E. (Darlene) Heptinstall of Opelika, David (Linda) Heptinstall of Lakeland, Fla. and Grady (Margie) Heptinstall of Phenix City; sisters, Lessie Mackey of Haddock, Ga. and Gean Zeigler of Appling, Ga.; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11 at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church. He will lie in-state one hour prior to the service.
