Chilton County’s roadways were relatively safe over the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Clanton and Jemison police departments reported no major accidents over the holiday.

Statewide, six people did die in Alabama from Wednesday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 29, according to state troopers.

The fatal crashes occurred in Colbert, Limestone, Mobile, Tallapoosa and Jefferson counties.

In all, troopers investigated 418 crashes during the weekend. Four of the six fatalities involved people not wearing seat belts. At least 28 of the 418 wrecks were alcohol-related.
