Susan Hamm named Miss Samford

Susan Hamm, a junior business administration major from Thorsby, was crowned Miss Samford University 2010 on Friday, Nov. 20.

Hamm, daughter of Beverly and Mark Hamm, will represent Samford in the Miss Alabama scholarship pageant in June. Her pageant platform is “Children’s Miracle Network-A Smile for Every Child.”

A pianist, Hamm was named co-winner of the talent competition for her performance of C.P.E. Bach’s “Solfeggietto.”

Pageant finalists were Ashla Taylor, a junior education major from McCalla, first runner-up; and Maegan Carroll, a first-year pharmacy student from Trussville, second runner-up. Katherine Fuller, a junior chemistry and biochemistry major from Briarfield, tied with Hamm in the talent competition for her piano performance of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Prelude in G minor, op. 23, no. 5.”
