Verbena on Monday had a 17-point lead in the third period but had to hold on to defeat Billingsley, 54-50.

The game was the first of the season for the Bears.

Verbena is now 2-2.

Brad Boswell and Brandon White led the Red Devils with 15 points each, and Jason Ray posted 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Carlos Caver scored a game-high 18 points for Billingsley.
