The Jemison library will close Dec. 1 in anticipation of its move to the new Jemison Municipal Building.

The library will reopen in its new location some time in January or early February. The exact date will be announced later, said Librarian Jeannette Brasher.

During the break, staff will check inventory and move and organize books in the new library.

After Dec. 1, any due or overdue books can be returned to the current library or City Hall.

If overdue books are returned by Dec. 11, late fees will be given and library privileges will be restored, Brasher said.

If a book, video or any other materials borrowed from the library are lost, restitution can be made at the Chilton-Clanton branch in Clanton.

Brasher said the library hopes to complete its inventory with as many returned books as possible and add new ones in the months to come.

“We are very proud that we can serve our community with the services of a branch of the main library in Chilton County that is well-equipped with reading materials, research materials and computers for the patrons of North Chilton and the surrounding area,” Brasher said.
