Local alumni from the University of Montevallo will meet next Thursday, Nov. 12 in Clanton.

The annual Chilton County Alumni Club meeting will take place from 6-8 p.m. at The Cake Factory (upstairs from Edgar’s) on Second Avenue North.

Chilton County has Montevallo’s third largest alumni constituency, behind Jefferson and Shelby counties.

Montevallo students will talk about their research experiences and senior Erica Russell will provide special music. Other representatives from the Student Government Association and the Student Alumni Association will also be present.

Tracy Payne is helping organize the meeting. She graduated from Montevallo in 1994 and currently serves as director of the university’s McNair Scholars Program and Undergraduate Research Endeavors.

Payne said the club is trying to raise more money for its Chilton County Scholarship.

Cost for the Thursday meeting will be $10 per person, which will include refreshments.
