Congratulations to the Thorsby High School volleyball team on an outstanding season.
The team, coached by Ginger and Keith Williams, won more matches than in previous seasons and made it to the sub-state playoff round before ending the season. Everyone is extremely proud of the efforts and accomplishments of the players and coaches.
The Thorsby High School Fall Festival was held on Oct. 22, and all of the faculty and staff would like to thank the parents and students for visiting the school. Everyone had fun and enjoyed the games and fellowship.
Mr. Carlton LeSueur has joined the staff of Thorsby High School as assistant principal. The students and parents welcomed him to Thorsby during the school day and during the Fall Festival. I encourage all parents to introduce themselves to him when given the opportunity.
The Thorsby High School Marching Band continues to receive superior ratings and rave reviews from their performances at marching competitions and the most recent “Chilton County Night of Bands.” The performance of the band and cheerleaders during football games adds to the motivation of the players and the fans supporting the football team.
The Thorsby Rebel football team has two thrilling victories in a row. Everyone is extremely proud of these young men for staying motivated to get the program back on a winning track.
Senior Night for band members, cheerleaders and football players will be held during halftime of the football game on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The elementary students are participating in the “Too Good for Drugs” events during Red Ribbon Week, and the Thorsby Police Department will be visiting the students to talk to them about safety while trick-or-treating during Halloween.
I would like to thank all the parents that visited the school on our Title 1 Parent/Teacher Visitation Day. We had a record number of parents visiting our campus to meet with teachers, pick up report cards, and sign Title 1 Compacts.
