Verbena had little trouble Friday against Donoho, scoring multiple times on the ground and through the air. A stingy defense had several interceptions, too, in a 36-0 win.
Quarterback Brad Boswell had a terrific night, and scored the game’s first points off a 2-yard sneak midway through the first quarter. Boswell finished the night 12-for-19 with three passing TDs and the one rushing score.
The first touchdown was set up by a Bay Lucas interception.
The Red Devils’ second points came off a 70-yard pass from Boswell to Brandon White. That play was also made possible by an interception—this time from Kelly Dorsett.
With 6:04 to go in the first half, Boswell found Brandon White from 18 yards out to put the Red Devils up 24-0.
Kelly Lucas would add another touchdown in the third. Boswell would cap scoring for the night with a 25-yard TD pass to Blake Bell.
Dorsett finished the night with 100 yards on 15 rushes, while Kelly Lucas had 30 yards on 11 carries.
White had five receptions for 132 yards. Bell racked up 52 yards on three receptions.
One defense, K. Lucas had 9 tackles and one sack; Jason Ray collected 10 tackles and one sack; Blake Gore finished with 10 tackles; and Garrett Dennis made nine tackles.
