Tax assessor-elect Rex Cleckler will be sworn in Thursday morning at The Chilton County Courthouse.

Cleckler will take the oath of office at 10 a.m. on the third floor of the courthouse.

Cleckler, a Clanton police officer, defeated incumbent Tom Powers in last November’s general election.

The Clanton City Council approved Cleckler’s resignation from the police department at its meeting Monday.
