Jury duty for Monday, Oct. 5 in the courtroom of Circuit Judge Sibley Reynolds has been cancelled, Chilton County Circuit Clerk Glenn McGriff announced Wednesday.

Anyone who received a notice to report to jury duty that day does not need to show up, McGriff said.

The criminal week scheduled for the week of Oct. 5 has been postponed due to the ongoing capital murder trial of Jason Murphy. Reynolds is the judge presiding over the trial.

“The trial is taking longer than expected,” McGriff explained.

Those selected to appear for jury duty at a later date will receive a summons prior to the new date.

Anyone with questions should contact the Chilton County Circuit Clerk’s Office in the Chilton County Courthouse at 755-4275 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.
