Birthdays take on new meaning with ACS

Several Clanton youth attended a different kind of birthday party.

The American Cancer Society has been named the “Official Sponsor of Birthdays” because the organization saves lives and creates more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.

The youth attended a “Birthday Party” and donated a minimum of $10 to show their dedication in the fight to find a cure for cancer.

All together, the youth donated $220 to the American Cancer Society.

”I am so thankful to everyone that attended,” event coordinator Kevin Williams said. “So many people are affected by cancer. It was awesome to have so many of my friends come together for such a worthy cause.”

During the event, the youth ate, danced, played games, signed their names to a fight back banner and took time to pray while remembering those they know that have lost their lives to cancer and honor those that have won the battle against the disease.

“These youth are our future leaders,” said Morgan Choat, American Cancer Society Area Director. “It is amazing what an impact a small group of people can make. We are so proud to have these youth working so hard on our behalf and taking the time to help save lives.”

If you would like to make a donation to the “Youth Fighting Cancer” cause, make checks payable to the American Cancer Society and send to Kevin Williams, 100 County Road 920, Clanton, AL 35046.
