Isabella’s varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams defeated Indian Springs on Tuesday.

It was the JV’s 19th consecutive win. The varsity, meanwhile, is still trying to hit its stride.

“We’re still trying to find that total consistency, that killer instinct,” coach Glen Graham said. “We should have won one or two more matches, but I’m not dissatisfied with where we’re at.”

The Mustangs (18-6) on Tuesday swept Indian Springs, 25-9, 25-21, 25-11.

Amber Wyatt led the team with 10 kills and two blocks.

Savannah Kissel posted three kills and five aces, and Heather Mason also had five aces.

The team’s two setters, Marlee Hayes and Jessica Maciel, had seven assists each.

The past week has been up and down. Isabella defeated both Thorsby and Holtville on Sept. 17 and was knocked out in the semifinal round of the Jemison Invitational Tournament on Sept. 19 (see brief on right side of page).

Graham now wants to see his team start putting it together for county tournament and playoffs.

“It’s that time of the year where everything starts counting,” he said.

The JV Mustangs (7-0) have had it together since the first match of last season, the last time it lost.

They defeated Indian Springs 25-20, 25-19.

Ashley Carlisle aced the hosts five times, and both Heather Posey and Mallory Mitchell had four aces.

“That was the story of the match: we served the daylights out of the ball,” coach Lee Windham said.
