Community should welcome children’s center

Volunteers are working tirelessly to finish a Child Protect satellite office in Clanton.

The children’s office center assists law enforcement and the Department of Human Resources in child abuse cases.

This is a sensitive topic—no family ever wants to end up needing the help of a group like Child Protect.

However, when awful things do happen, it’s comforting to know that a group with Child Protect’s expertise and experience will be close to assist Chilton County families.

For the past 20 years, the Montgomery-based center has served Chilton, Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery counties.

The new office will be located in Lumac Plaza on Lumac Drive across from Dollar General. It is expected to open in October and will conduct forensic interviews within the county.

Several individuals and business have volunteered their time and resources to help the office open. They deserve a thank you, too.
