Reserved seats installed at Tiger Stadium

With a view from the 50-yard line, a fold down chair, complimentary refreshments and a game program, it’s the best seat in the house.

Chilton County High is offering a reserved seat in the new Tiger Pride section at the rest of the season’s home football games for $100.

“This was brought about and designed to make money for the school, not to exclude anybody,” CCHS athletic director and football coach Brian Carter said.

Seventy-two of the seats were installed, and 61 have been reserved so far. Carter said the part of the stadium designated as the Tiger Pride seating area could accommodate 144 of the seats.

The seats have some history: They were part of the old Comiskey Park, which the Chicago White Sox played in from 1910 until 1990.

Besides nostalgia, the price of a reserved seat also includes a program and free drinks and snacks, said Darryl Cummings, president of the CCHS athletics booster organization, Tiger Club.

The money raised will go toward future renovations to Tiger Stadium. There are other ways to help program.

“I think everybody has something to offer, if they’ll step up and offer it,” Cummings said. “It doesn’t have to be money. We need people at the Tiger Club tent, we need people to work the Tiger Pride section.

“We want the whole community to be involved. We want it to be a tight-knit effort. If you want to come and be a part of something, we’ll find something for you to do.”

An opportunity to begin one’s involvement will be a football meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the field house. Carter and Cummings encouraged anyone interested in CCHS football to attend.
