Chilton County High School’s Tigers (l-2) were beaten, 35-3, Friday night in Montgomery by ninth-ranked 5A Carver Wolverines (2-1).

The Tigers managed a field goal in the first quarter but had difficulties getting their offense going. In the second half, the Tigers recovered one of three Wolverine fumbles and rushed to the Carver one. A penalty moved the ball back, and the Tigers’ threat ended with an incomplete pass in the end zone.

Keondre Hawkins opened scoring for Carver by picking up a Tiger fumble and scoring with 9:53 left in the first quarter. Kevin Campbell added the seventh point.

Chase Lucas recovered a Carver fumble on the Wolverine 26, and Zach Headley produced the Tiger’s only score with a 30-yard field goal with 3:14 left in the first.

Carver scored again on a 30-yard pass from Reggie Aaron to Terrance Young with nine minutes left in the half.

Alton Goodwyn ran 15 yards for the next Wolverine score with 6:53 left in the half, and Meryles Gilbert picked up another loose Tiger football and ran to the CCHS two. Robbie Mangon scored a couple of plays later giving Carver a 28-3 lead at the half.

The only score in the second half came with 2:05 left in the third quarter when Aaron passed to Antonio Pitt for a 39-yard touchdown. Carver added the point-after and ended scoring at 35-3.

Unofficially, the Tigers rushed for 136 yards and passed for 36 yards. They fumbled the ball away three times and had two passes intercepted.

Carver rushed for 211 yards, passed for 142 yards and lost three fumbles.

Next week, the Tigers will travel to Gardendale looking for their second win.
