Last year, Isabella beat Vincent, 23-14, in Shelby County.

This year, the Yellow Jackets exacted revenge, with a stinging, 48-6, win over the Mustangs.

The tough, physical game was started with a somber moment of silence in honor of 9/11 and recent Isabella grads, Zachary Ryan Ellison and Kayla Leeann Brackin, who died in a car crash Saturday, Sept. 5.

Vincent started strong in the first half, scoring off a 14-yard run by quarterback Michael Kelley and a 80-yard pass from Kelley to Brett Frizzell.

The Yellow Jackets scored two more quick scores, bring the score to 28-0 with 9:33 to go in the second half.

Isabella had more than one long drive ended by a turnover, including when the Mustangs go to Vincent’s 38-yard-line midway through the second quarter.

At halftime, the score was 36-0 but Isabella spoiled the shutout with a nice drive halfway through the fourth quarter, capped by an 11-yard- run by running back Willie Stacy.

The Mustangs are now 1-2 and 0-2 in Class 2A, Region 4. Vincent improves to 2-1 overall (1-1 in the area).
