Town works to preserve past for future

Maplesville is one of Chilton County’s first settled areas.

The entire western part of the county has a long and storied history from its railroad days. You can gather that just from looking at the old buildings, churches and graveyards.

One building that is important in that history is the railroad depot.

Active citizens, who care about preserving Maplesville history, and town leaders should be commended for the work they have done to restore the depot.

The building will continue to serve the Maplesville Senior Center, but it will also be a living history museum. The Maplesville Historical Society hopes to open a museum soon, displaying memories from the town’s rich history.
