Just about every local government office will be closing Monday for the Labor Day holiday.

The Chilton County Courthouse will be closed for the state holiday including offices for the Probate Judge, Circuit Clerk, Tax Assessor, Tax Collector, Sheriff, County Commission and Board of Registrars.

Offices will reopen on Tuesday morning.

All county schools and board offices will also take the day off Monday, along with all local banks.

In Clanton, City Hall will be closed all day Monday. Garbage pick-up will run as scheduled, but the sanitation department asks that all garbage be out by 6 a.m.

In Jemison, Maplesville and Thorsby, all municipal offices are closed, and garbage collection will not occur Monday morning.

Jemison’s garbage collection will pick up Monday’s trash routes on Tuesday, along with the usual Tuesday routes.

Thorsby is pushing back its garbage collection a day next week. That means Monday routes will be picked up Tuesday, and Tuesday’s routes will be picked up on Wednesday.

Maplesville’s trash will also be picked up on Tuesday.

Monday’s council meetings in Thorsby and Jemison will also be rescheduled.

Thorsby’s meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m., while Jemison will meet Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m.
