The Jefferson Christian Eagles landed at Bill Nabors Field Friday night—and after that, they barely left the ground.

The Isabella Mustangs held the Eagles to just one touchdown the entire night, winning their first game of the season 57-6.

“It’s just good to finally play,” Isabella coach Lanny Jones said after the game. “Every kid got to play by the half, and we saw things we need to work on and things that were good.”

Austin Haigler scored first on a 39-yard run, then the Isabella defense capitalized on a fumble as Willie Stacy ran it in from the 25. Before the first quarter ended, Allen Edwards and Blake Lawley scored on 10- and 8-yard runs, respectively.

Haigler found the end zone again in the second, this time from 27 yards out. He later recovered an Eagle fumble and scored on a short run. Between Haigler’s scores, Edwards took it in from the 39.

With 7:12 remaining in the half, Stacy found more paydirt.

The score was 51-0 at the half.

In the third, Trae Calfee continued Isabella’s assault with a 13-yard touchdown run, putting the Mustangs up by 57.

The Eagles finally got on the board late with a 20-yard touchdown pass.
