Helping young people find success

We hope every student will have the opportunity to go to college if he or she wants to. Studies show that students with a college education make, on average, $1 million more in their lives than those who don’t have that diploma.

However, college isn’t a guarantee for success either. Many young people find great opportunities to learn a skill and make a good livehood in the technical fields.

To that end, Hopewell Baptist Church in Clanton will host a Job Corps workshop Aug. 21. Job Corps helps young people learn a career, earn a high school diploma or GED, and find and keep a good job.

Job Corps is for young people between ages 16 and 24. They offer hands-on training in many areas, such as automotive repair, health care, business, information technology and more.

Anyone in need of transportation is encouraged to contact the church on Wednesday between the times of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at 755-2667.
