A benefit gospel music singing scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Central Alabama Gospel Music Barn will go toward helping the victims of domestic violence and their children.

The singing will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature several soloists and groups including Four Given Voices, Gene Lowery and The Samaritans, Adreane Barrington, Maddy Barrington, Dena Bond and Steve Roberson. Dinner will also be served.

All proceeds from donations will benefit the Family Sunshine Center, a Montgomery-based home for battered women and children that serves the region.

The event was organized with the help of the Chilton County Domestic Violence Task Force, a team of organizations and individuals aimed at spreading awareness about domestic violence and providing resources to those affected by it.

“We’re really looking for a good turnout,” coordinator Lloyd Nutter said. “We’re trying to get everyone involved in this because it is a worthwhile cause. These people need all the help they can get.”

The Central Alabama Gospel Music Barn is located on Chilton County Road 29 near Jemison.
