Employees of Kumi Manufacturing Alabama in Clanton recently completed a Community Emergency Response Training course.

Thirteen employees graduated Saturday, June 13 from the training course.

With this last group of participants completing their training, KMA now has claim to around 30 CERT personnel.

Emergency Management Agency training officer and CERT instructor David Hicks complimented the company’s interest and participation in the program.

“This speaks highly of KMA’s dedication to both its employees and to the community around them,” Hicks said. “In the event of an emergency, such as a tornado, the CERT personnel can respond to and assist with the disaster, both within its own manufacturing plant and to the communities around them.”

Hicks said the fact that KMA is willing to respond outside of their plant is a huge asset to Chilton County’s disaster resources.

“It’s great to see businesses such as KMA and other groups who are interested in putting back into and being a part of the community,” Hicks added.

Several of those who have gone through the CERT program have expressed interest in continuing their emergency training and are looking forward to attending more courses in the future, Hicks said.
