Chil-Tauga defeated Clanton, 4-3, in the decisive Game 3 Friday of the Dixie Youth Ozone (11- and 12-year-olds) District 4 tournament at Billingsley’s Blake Donaldson Field.

The win earns Chil-Tauga a berth in the state tournament on July 17-23 at Decatur.

Chil-Tauga trailed 2-1 before scoring three runs on only one hit in the top of the fifth inning. Justin Pouncey, Zach Paulene and Dalton Silas all scored in the frame to give Chil-Tauga a 4-2 lead, but Clanton scored one run in the bottom of the sixth and had two men on base before Pouncey induced the game-ending out.

Pouncey earned the save, while Paulene pitched scoreless innings in the fourth and fifth to earn the win.
