Stay safe, Clanton

There’s a saying that no news is good news. And while that phrase doesn’t often work in the world of newspapers, we here at The Advertiser are happy that this Fourth of July weekend was relatively safe.

From Friday through Sunday, there was just one accident with minor injuries in each of Chilton County’s municipalties. There were no fatalities from car accidents.

As Clanton police chief Brian Stilwell said, “Everyone seemed to be on their best behavior.”

“Compared to what we’ve done in the past, it was relatively quiet,” said Stilwell.

Even other things for which the holiday is notorious for, like DUIs and fireworks accidents, were down compared to recent years.

That’s something we’ll gladly print any day.
