Christine T. Creus, 51, of Clanton passed away Saturday, 5:52 a.m., July 4, 2009 at Chilton Medical Center following a six-month battle with lung cancer.

She was born Dec. 15, 1957 in Cebu City, Philippines. She graduated as Doctor of Medicine from the Cebu Institute of Medicine in 1984 and completed her residency in pediatrics at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1996, she moved to Clanton, which became her loving adopted home where she served as the sole pediatrician for 13 years. A gifted musician and devout Catholic, Christine often played piano during mass and parties, never failing to bring family and friends together in song. Her life evolved around her close-knit family here and in the Philippines, and she dedicated herself to the church, her patients and friends. She loved to travel and was an avid reader. Her cheerful, kindhearted nature, thoughtfulness and generosity has touched so many.

Christine is survived by her parents, Teodosio and Celsa Creus; brothers, Steven T. Creus and Fr. John Therese (Romulo) Creus; sister, Corazon T. Creus; nephew, Ken Andrew Creus; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

She is fondly remembered by her Alabama family, Cherrie and Herbert Herrera, Mary and Leon Casals, Roxanne and Ritky Dy, Joy and Rey Gavino, Mercy and Gerald Lim, Gladys and Mike Matela, Leah and Christopher Mesina, Ines and Charlton Trinidad, Mir and Gerry Varquez, Eden and Ronald Yutiamco, and their children who learned to develop their talents with Christine’s inspiration.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 302 First Ave., Clanton, at 5 p.m. followed by mass from 7-8 p.m. Fr. Bruce Bumbargger officiating. Funeral services will follow in the Philippines.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christine’s favorite charity.
