Since the Fourth of July falls on a Saturday this year, some local services will not be affected during the week, while others will compensate with a weekday holiday.

Peoples Southern Bank, Peachtree Bank, Regions Bank and Colonial Bank will all be closed Saturday, but will retain regular business hours both Friday and Monday before and after the holiday.

The post offices will also be closed Saturday, and regular mail delivery will resume Monday.

The county courthouse will be closed Friday and will reopen Monday. All offices and services located in the courthouse will be unavailable Friday.

Friday garbage pickup in Clanton will be delayed until Monday, and customers are asked to have their garbage cans out by 6 a.m. that morning.

Jemison’s Friday garbage pickup will also be picked up Monday.

In Maplesville, Friday’s garbage will be picked up Monday, and Monday’s will be picked up Tuesday.

Thorsby’s garbage pickup will not be affected.

The Chilton County Board of Education, which normally has a four-day workweek, will be closed Thursday and reopen Monday.
