William White

William White, 64, passed away June 27, 2009 in Clanton. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 at Agee Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, July 2 at West End Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
Mr. White was born in Pansey to Carey and Satchie Bell White on May 31, 1945. He was a decorated U.S. Army Infantryman in the Vietnam conflict and awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal and other citations. Following his successful tour in Southeast Asia, William worked several years for various railroads as a maintenance supervisor before retiring in 1990 due to health issues. He was an active member of West End Church of Christ, Disabled American Veterans, and the Clanton Water Board.
William is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings (Edward White, Eunice White Barnett, John Oscar Dismuke, Eugene Dismuke, Doris Dismuke and Edith White Etheredge). He is survived by: wife, Willie Mae Williams White; children, Lieutenant Commander (sel). Chadwick DeVone White of Gainesville, Fla.; Carla Denise and Caryn Denise White of Clanton; and Lieutenant William Corbitt (Kristy) White of Greenville, Wis.; siblings, Azell White of Clanton, Bettey Dismuke Nix and Raymond (Purllene) Hodges Sr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Emma White of Gordon; one granddaughter, Alahni Del Rosario White of Clearwater, Fla.; and hosts of nieces, nephews, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
