The City of Clanton’s Independence Day celebration will end with a bang, as always. But the fireworks show is only part of the activities planned for the night.

Beginning at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 4 at the youth league football field in Clanton City Park, there will be entertainment for all ages.

Local Christian rock band Thalon, Christian rap artist LP, and 3 Strands drama team from New Life Community Church all will perform on stage.

Also, inflatable rides and a water station will keep the little ones occupied and everyone hydrated for the festivities.

The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

“I think the Fourth of July fireworks show is such an event that New Life wants to say with what we’re doing that this is our gift to the community,” Scott Springer, church pastor, said. “We just want folks to come out and enjoy it.”

Thalon, who recently finished recording a worship album called “Thalon Worship,” is touring heavily in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. They will have their merchandise for sale during the event.

“They’ve been heavy on the road touring,” Springer said.

The group wrote a song with LP, whose moniker stands for “Like Paul.” The music will start at 7 p.m. and last until 9.

Thalon will return to the stage in City Park on Sunday morning and lead worship during New Life’s 10:30 a.m. service. Everyone is invited to attend.
