Clanton’s Cason Smith led off the Dixie Youth AA All-Stars Sub-District 4 game with an inside-the-park home run.

Clanton hit two more inside-the-park home runs on their way to a 10-6 win at Chiltauga that gave Clanton the district championships.

Both teams will advance to a district tournament.

After a Connor Miller single scored Keilan Peoples in the second inning, Gabe Gray came up with Clanton’s second inside-the-park home run, in the top of the third with Smith on base.

That made it 4-0 Clanton, but Chiltauga plated two runs in the bottom half of the frame on Brady Richardson’s double that brought home Austin Sharpe and Austin Tatum.

Clanton’s Cade Davidson recorded yet another inside-the-park home run in the top of the fourth, and the visitors built a 7-2 lead before Chiltauga struck for four runs, two of which came on a Michael Johnson triple, in the bottom of the fifth.

But Clanton added three insurance runs in the top of the sixth and final inning. Gray, Garrett Mahan, Dalton Patterson, Davidson, Miller and Alex Minor all had hits in the inning.
